Dr. Emily Shao is a dermatology trainee interested in complex medical dermatology, paediatric dermatology, hair and scalp conditions, and skin cancer detection and treatment. She completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland and trained at major Queensland hospitals, gaining further international experience at the National Skin Centre in Singapore.
In addition to dermatology, Dr Shao has worked across multiple medical specialties and completed her physician examinations, providing her with a strong foundation in general medicine. She holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Sydney and a PhD from the University of Queensland, with research focused on skin cancer in kidney transplant recipients. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and she received the Australasian College of Dermatology’s Trans-Tasman Exchange Scholarship to present her research internationally.
Dr Shao currently holds a public appointment at The Prince Charles Hospital, where she works in the Dermatology Clinic within the Heart and Lung Transplant Unit. She is also an Associate Lecturer at the University of Queensland and actively involved in medical education.
