Dr. Ramez Barsoum

Dr. Ramez Barsoum, MBBS (Hons), FACD is a specialist Dermatologist and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. Dr Barsoum completed his specialist training in Queensland, Australia, working across a range of hospitals including Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Queensland Children’s Hospital, Mater Public Hospital, Cairns Base Hospital and the Queensland Institute of Dermatology.
Dr Barsoum graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours), during which he published his honours thesis, a landmark 24-year longitudinal study of childhood melanocytic naevi as predictors of melanoma risk. This research garnered media and community attention, featuring on the ABC website and on Channel 9 News.
He has a particular interest in medical dermatology, particularly eczema and psoriasis management with a range of therapeutic modalities including biologic medication, acne, paediatric dermatology, and skin of colour, as well as the surgical management of melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers and keloid scars.
Dr Barsoum’s strong mentorship during his training years led to his enthusiasm and commitment for teaching fellow clinicians and medical students through surgical and medical worskhops, and patient education resources publishing extensively on free patient resource websites like DermNet and A-to-Z of Skin.
Outside of work, Dr Barsoum enjoys exploring new restaurants in Brisbane, exploring the beautiful state of Queensland, and learning to cook new dishes from various cuisines.
